What $63 will get you at BookPeople, besides an argument with your husband about how you spend too much money on books
In an event that might never repeat itself, I had two hours to myself this morning, and no idea what to do. Of course, I decided to go to the bookstore. And though my wallet refuses to refill itself with cash on demand, I still snatched up six books. It’s lucky I got myself out of there, too, or else I would have grabbed six more, and six more and six more until I found myself in the predicament of trying to pay my minivan payment with paperbacks. (Did I just admit to driving a minivan? It totally has spinners and mirrored windows, so shut up.) Here’s what I got. Don’t mock me for not yet reading books everyone else has read already. THE BOOK THIEF by, Markus Zusak
LOVE THAT DOG by, Sharon Creech
BILLY HOOTEN, OWLBOY by, Thomas E. Sniegoski
LIFE AS WE KNEW IT by, Susan Beth Pfeffer
GIRL IN THE ARENA by, Lise Haines
ESCAPE FROM EARTH (New Adventures In Space – a short story collection from authors like Orson Scott Card and Joe Haldeman) The only trouble seems to be that I used up my only free time at the bookstore. Now I have to figure out when I actually have a minute to read.
